Over 100 years ago those famous dog playing poker paintings were created.  The artist, Cassius Marcellus Coolidge,  in the early 1900’s created 16 different paintings.

 

We laugh at them, disregard them but they seem to have passed the test of time.

 

Dogs are such a big part of our lives and paintings and dog just go together!!

The former US President has a new title “George Bush Dog Painter”.

 

Bonnie Floor is the Georgia artist who was George Bush’s painting instructor.  She was his teacher for a month in Boca Raton.

 

“He started off painting dogs. I think he said he painted 50 dogs,” Flood said. “He pulled out this canvas and started painting dogs and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I don’t paint dogs!”

These paintings are the work of Cajun artist, George Rodrique of New Iberia, Louisiana.  His initial inspiration to paint came from a family get together while surrounded by moss-clad oak trees in French Louisiana.  Moving on to become famous in New York for his Cajun abstract expressionism nützlicher inhalt.

Some of his early works are Tree Oaks and The Aioli Dinner.  Probably his most famous piece is Evangeline, which was from a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow   Rodrique was also a designer for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with Louis Armstrong, Pete Fountain and Al Hirt featured front and center.

What really created his worldwide stardom was his blue dog painting series.  According to Rodrique, his blue dog art was inspired by his deceased dog, Tiffany and also, the Loup Garou legend.  The Blue Dog became very popular because Xerox and Absolut Vodka used the blue-hued spaniel with white nose and yellow eyes in national ad campaigns.

A Dog That Wanted to Run a Marathon

The people who owned Dozer, a 3-year-old goldendoodle from Fulton, Md., didn’t know where he was on Sunday. Unbeknownst to them, Dozer escaped his invisible fence and joined up with the 2,000-plus marathoners contending in the Maryland One-half Marathon, which benefits the College of Maryland’s Greenebaum Cancer Facility. Dozer signed up for the run at about 5 miles in to the race, and he went across the goal at the 2:14:24 mark.

Maryland One-half Marathon co-founder Jon Sevel pointed out many joggers spotted Dozer in numerous places, at times lapping up water at rest locations, yet nobody recognized the pet was operating solo. After running the last 7 miles in the race, Dozer made it home Monday morning. After being checkout by a vet he got a medal from the race organizers on the following Thursday.

“This is an extremely sweet dog,” claimed University of Maryland Medical Facility spokeswoman Karen Warmkessel. “When I saw him today, he looked excellent. He was really energetic, and now he’s raising money for cancer research weiterlesen.”.

Dozer now has his own marathoner’s web pag on the Maryland Half Marathon website. Way to go Dozer.

Asked if Dozer will ever get the full marathoner treatment Sevel said, “At the minimum, Dozer will certainly have his own bib number– K9,” said Sevel. “We will definitely have him involved.”.

Cairo the military pet was birthed and bred for the task. He is a Belgian Malinois, a guard variety that few recognized with, until Cairo’s story came to be headlines magyargenerikus.com. After Cairo trained to be an Armed force Working Dog at a young age, he advanced to Naval force SEAL training. Cairo was the only canine to go along with Navy SEAL Team 6 as they descended on Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
